Events
At Proyecto LAM, we create spaces where scientific knowledge and citizen participation come together to strengthen the conservation of agaves and the ecosystems surrounding our community.
Throughout the year, we organize various environmental education activities, including two events that have become a fundamental part of the project: the Night of the Bats and our Fundraising Dinner. The first brings people closer to an understanding of biodiversity through direct experience with experts; the second enables those who share our vision to make a tangible contribution to the development of conservation efforts.
Night of the Bats
We held this event in our botanical garden, featuring experts who, in a friendly atmosphere featuring local cuisine, shared their knowledge about bats, agaves, and the role they play in biodiversity conservation.
The heart of the event is the scientific monitoring of bats that visit our flowering mezcal agaves—an experience that allows participants to observe, identify, and record these nocturnal pollinators under the guidance of experts. In addition to generating valuable information for research and the training of our team, starting in 2026 we will involve students from the community through a contest, thereby introducing new generations to scientific knowledge and the conservation of our biocultural heritage.
Fundraising dinner: A special edition That supports conservation
Every year we celebrate our Fundraising Dinner, an event that brings together people committed to the future of agaves, biodiversity, and biocultural landscapes of Oaxaca.
The highlight of this evening is the special editions of Real Minero, created exclusively to support Proyecto LAM. All proceeds go toward specific project goals, the most recent of which is to fund ecological restoration work at La Carreta, a property we hope to incorporate into the Voluntarily Designated Conservation Area (ADVC) program.
For us, this dinner represents much more than just a fundraising event: it is a conservation effort. Thanks to it, we can continue to promote and support initiatives that require ongoing support.
